Baltimore Ravens Denied Their Revenge On Sunday Night Football By Buffalo Bills
It was a rematch of the 2024 season AFC Divisional round game and revenge was in the air. The home team played as if they were the ones who needed to be avenged but it was the visitors who had something to prove. Despite scoring a touchdown on their first possession their opponents answered with a field goal of their own. And yet the Baltimore Ravens were denied their revenge on Sunday Night Football by the Buffalo Bills.
So Josh Allen led his team down the field on a very determined opening drive. Which culminated in a 15-yard touchdown pass from Allen to Dalton Kincaid. Lamar Jackson took the field and seemed equally determined to lead his team on a scoring drive. Had he not been sacked for a 15-yard loss he may have been able to get a touchdown. Instead the Ravens settled for a 52-yard field goal. And their defense followed up with a quick three and out forcing the Bills to punt.
After that the Ravens got their running game going, primarily with Derrick “King” Henry. He had over 100 yards total prior to the end of the first half. If Henry wasn’t running then Lamar Jackson was and the Bills seemed to forget that they needed to account for both players. Jackson ripped off a few good runs which allowed the Ravens to get into scoring position. They scored two touchdowns, in between which, the Bills had to punt. Henry was tossing off defenders left and right as he barreled down the field. He ran 30 yards for a touchdown while Jackson ran 10 yards for another one.
But just before the half the Bills managed to get down the field far enough to get into field goal range. It looked like the time on the clock had expired but after further review the officials determined that there was one second left. Which was all they needed to kick the 43-yard field goal. The Ravens went into halftime with the 20-13 lead.

They kept up the offensive assault with another touchdown on the opening third quarter drive. But the Bills got running back James Cook going, plus a couple of scrambles by Allen combined with a defensive pass interference penalty resulted in a 2-yard touchdown run by Cook. After that each team punted and then the Ravens scored again. Thanks to a ridiculous one-handed catch in the end zone by DeAndre Hopkins. After that all the momentum switched to the Bills.
They whittled down a 15-point lead held by the Ravens. Even with a missed 2-pt. conversion they still kept coming for the Ravens. Henry fumbled the ball which the Bills recovered. And with the clock running down to three seconds, 41 year-old kicker Matt Prater kicked the winning 32-yard field goal. Giving the Bills the 40-41 win over the Ravens in what would be their last opening day game in Highmark Stadium.
