Baltimore Ravens And Tight End Mark Andrews Agreed To New Deal

He’s been a steady and consistent contributor for the Ravens but particularly for Lamar Jackson. And who doesn’t love a great tight end not named Gronkowski or Kelce? But he doesn’t need either name because he’s good all on his own. Hence the reason why the Baltimore Ravens and tight end Mark Andrews agreed to a new deal. Thanks to his hard work ethic, Andrews secured a three-year extension worth $39.3 million and includes $26 million guaranteed.

The extension came at a fine time since Andrews was in the final year of his previous deal. That deal was a four-year, $56 million deal that he signed ahead of the 2021 season. Due to that deal it became a toss-up whether or not Andrews would be cut for salary cap considerations or if he would become trade fodder. Happily for Andrews it was decided to extend him instead. Therefore, the Ravens released a statement about keeping Andrews on the team.

“We are excited and proud to announce a three-year contract extension with Mark Andrews,” Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta said in a statement. “Mark is an all-time Raven — a top competitor and Pro Bowl tight end who is also a big part of our Baltimore community.”

Andrews has spent his entire 8-year career with the Ravens starting in 63 of 116 games. He has had 473 receptions for 5,862 yards, averaging 12.4 per catch along with 56 touchdowns. Good enough to make him the Ravens’ career leader in all three areas. Plus he’s a three-time Pro Bowl tight end and a one-time All Pro honoree.

But, of course, with the extending of Andrews that leaves the other tight end, Isaiah Likely’s, future up in the air.

On the bright side, after not practicing all week, quarterback Lamar Jackson was back at practice today. So Andrew’s draft classmate will be back on the field this Sunday for the game against the division rival, Pittsburgh Steelers. In case you didn’t know, Andrews is Jackson’s favorite target. And rarely does Andrews disappoint in catching the ball.

And in other good news for Andrews he got engaged this week to his girlfriend Elena Yates. So you could say that this has been a pretty cool week for Mark. Now to top it off he and the Ravens just need to beat their rivals this weekend.

But in the meantime, we wish a hearty congratulations to Mark Andrews on his extension and his engagement!
