Bad Bunny Will Headline 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Show

We have witnessed artists from Prince to Coldplay, Michael Jackson, Bruno Mars, Beyoncé, Paul McCartney, and Katy Perry perform on the biggest global stage in sports. But now we finally know who shall have the honor next February. ROC Nation announced that 3X GRAMMY winner Bad Bunny will headline the 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Show.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter also confirmed the news regarding Bad Bunny. Schefter took to social media platform X to mention that, “Bad Bunny will be the halftime performer for Super Bowl LX on Sunday, Feb. 8, 2026, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.”

Last year’s halftime show shattered records. In fact, the Super Bowl 2025 halftime show, headlined by Kendrick Lamar; was watched by an average of 133.5 million viewers across all platforms. Thus making it the most-watched Super Bowl halftime show in history. Surpassing previous records held by Usher in 2024 and Michael Jackson in 1993.

Furthermore, this means that Kendrick’s show in terms of viewership was a 3% increase. When comparing it to the 129.3 million viewers for Usher’s 2024 halftime show. Additionally, the numbers show that more people came just for the music. The average viewership for Kendrick Lamar’s performance was actually higher than the average viewership for Super Bowl LIX itself. Those watching the game averaged around 127.7 million viewers. These statistics just illustrate how big of a stage the Super Halftime Show is; and how all on its own it can grab an audience.

In a press release, Jon Barker, SVP of Global Event Production for the NFL discussed why Bad Bunny was selected. Barker reveals,

Bad Bunny also had a message about his upcoming performance. He states,

“What I’m feeling goes beyond myself. It’s for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown… this is for my people, my culture, and our history. Ve y dile a tu abuela, que seremos el HALFTIME SHOW DEL SUPER BOWL.”

While there are music fans very excited to see Bad Bunny next year. This announcement did cause a wave of backlash/commotion to occur online. However, the NFL is thrilled about the 2026 Apple Music Halftime Show and believe they have a perfect choice.
