Atlanta Hawks Agree to Deals With Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Luke Kennard

This Eastern Conference franchise is looking to soar to new heights next season. And they are doing that by bringing in talent that they believe will compliment Trae Young. Monday evening, the Atlanta Hawks announced that they have agreed to deals with Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Luke Kennard.

Alexander-Walker averaged 9.4 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.7 assists over 25.3 minutes per game during the regular season in 2024-25. And he comes with a fine record of attendance. Alexander-Walker played in 223 of 224 games while on the Timberwolves (99.6%). The only game he missed was a DNP right after the team traded for him. So then, Atlanta is getting a guy who’s consistently ready for action.

Nonetheless, NBA insider Shams Charania was all over Atlanta’s Monday activities. In regards to Alexander-Walker he reveals,

“Free agent Nickeil Alexander-Walker has agreed to a four-year, $62 million deal with the Atlanta Hawks, plus a player option and trade kicker, sources tell ESPN. CAA Co-Heads of Basketball Aaron Mintz/Austin Brown and Steven Heumann reached the contract with the Hawks tonight.

Atlanta is sending a 2027 second-round pick via Cleveland and cash to Minnesota to acquire Nickeil Alexander-Walker via sign-and-trade for four years and $62 million, sources said.”

Furthermore, just moments later, Atlanta was at it again. Making moves to strengthen their roster. This time by grabbing up free agent Luke Kennard. Shams Charania confirmed the Kennard deal and even mentioned what player was busy out recruiting for the Hawks. Charania says,

Free agent sharpshooter Luke Kennard has agreed to a one-year, $11 million deal with the Atlanta Hawks, sources tell ESPN. Kennard has been one of the best 3-point shooters in the NBA, and Atlanta negotiated the new deal with CAA’s Aaron Mintz and Dave Spahn.

Hawks star Trae Young reached out to Kennard and Nickeil Alexander-Walker this evening to help recruit them to the franchise, sources said. Two big wing gets for the Hawks.

Apparently, beyond basketball Trae Young has a bright future in recruitment. He certainly demonstrated that he has pull like a magnet. Since Alexander-Walker and Kennard bought in expeditiously. Nevertheless, these are some great moves on the part of the Hawks. Atlanta is definitely dipping into the free agency pool with a plan and fulfilling their needs properly.
