Atlanta Falcons Eke Out A Win Over The Las Vegas Raiders
The Las Vegas Raiders are on a 10-game losing streak after their loss on the Monday Night Football double header. They were playing against the Atlanta Falcons who had been on a four-game losing streak of their own. But the Atlanta Falcons did enough to eke out a win over the Las Vegas Raiders. Last week Kirk Cousins threw two interceptions and he kept his streak going by throwing another one this week. But all the blame cannot be placed on Cousins as the team knows it has other issues.
The Raiders started the game on the wrong foot when they fumbled the ball and the Falcons recovered it. They didn’t take advantage and had to punt and the Raiders also punted. But then the Falcons put together a drive concluding with a 30-yard touchdown reception from Cousins to Drake London. The Raiders responded with a 52-yard field goal to make the score 7-3. The Raiders defense forced a stop which lead to a fair catch on the 3-yard line. But two plays later Ameer Abdullah was tackled in Atlanta’s end zone for a safety, giving the Falcons a 9-3 lead going into halftime.
In the third quarter was when Cousins’ interception happened. Robert Spillane jumped in front of a pass to Charlie Woerner. But the Raiders’ offense had negative plays on the drive except for a four-yard run. They had to punt and it was blocked. The Falcons converted that into a 40-yard field goal. Three more punts followed that to finish the third quarter. The Falcons scored another field goal of 48 yards in the fourth quarter.

But all was not yet lost for the Raiders. The offense drove the ball down the field 68 yards in under three minutes, scoring on a 5-yard pass from Desmond Ridder to Abdullah. That left them with just a six-point deficit. So with 1:50 left in the game they had a chance to pull off a come-from-behind win. However, they derailed themselves with penalties. But they still got close enough for Ridder to try two Hail Mary attempts. The first one was knocked down and the second one was picked off by the Falcons.
This game was the first start for Desmond Ridder with the Raiders. He went 23-of-39 for 208 yards, a touchdown and one interception against his former team. For the Falcons they should have been able to win this game easily. But they didn’t and they know they have a lot of work to do. Currently they are in 2nd place in the NFC South behind the Buccaneers.
