Arte Moreno to No Longer Sell Angels -The Halo Has Fallen

In more SHOCKING baseball news as of late, get this: owner Arte Moreno to no longer sale Angels team! Is this as big of a mistake as changing the Angels from Anaheim to Los Angeles for clout? The fans say heck yeah! However, more on that later.

For now let’s solely focus on Moreno’s decision to not sell the team. This seemed like a pretty done deal to all of baseball and specifically, Angels fans. From every angle all spectators have just been waiting for the announcement that some purchasing agreement had been made. Then, BOOM… the Moreno clan announces they will remain rulers of the Orange County, we mean Los Angeles, Angels.

How in the world did Arte come to this decision? What is driving this sudden, new wind of change? Well, the Angels released an official statement that helped shed some light on why a potential sale is no longer looming.

So what gives? According to the Angels’ Owner, Arte Moreno:

”During this process, it became clear that we have unfinished business and feel we can make a positive impact on the future of the team and the fan experience. This offseason we committed to a franchise record player payroll and still want to accomplish our goal of bringing a World Series Championship back to our fans. We are excited about this next chapter of Angels baseball.

We are grateful to Galatioto Sports Partners for their outstanding efforts throughout the process that allowed us to meet with a number of highly qualified individuals and groups who expressed strong interest in the Club. However, as discussions advanced and began to crystallize; we realized our heaven remain with the Angels; and we are not ready to part ways with the fans, players, and our employees.”

So there you have it. From Arte Moreno’s own lips to your eyes and ears. Nevertheless, what does this all mean?

Is Moreno about to pull up a Brinks truck and extend Ohtani? Will more bucks be spent to finish building out the team beyond Trout as well as Shohei Ohtani? Only time will tell. But, if Moreno truly cares about the Angels ‘fan experience’ he’ll start writing the darn checks.
