Arizona Cardinals Hit Hard With Injuries Including Marvin Harrison Jr. Struck By Appendicitis
The team took a pounding from the Seattle Seahawks this past Sunday losing 22-44, dropping to 3-6 and last place in the NFC West. As if that wasn’t bad enough their players seem to be dropping like flies. The Arizona Cardinals have been hit hard with injuries including Marvin Harrison Jr. being struck by appendicitis. The appendicitis was so bad that he had surgery on Monday night, putting him out for the game against the 49ers and potentially longer.
That means he will miss a game against another division rival and potentially other games this season. But Harrison wasn’t the only wide receiver sidelined. Simi Fehoko, who suffered an arm injury on Sunday, was placed on Injured Reserve. And fellow wideout Zay Jones tore his Achilles in the game against the Seahawks and was officially placed on IR. He will miss the rest of the 2025 season. With all those injuries Michael Wilson will be the team’s No. 1 receiver and work in tandem with tight end Trey McBride. McBride has already been a solid part of the offense being the top target.
Commenting on the change, Wilson seems prepared to take on the additional workload stating:
“Maybe there is a little more anticipation of getting the rock a little more and knowing the ball is going to be coming my way because I know I’m the first read on a lot of plays,” Wilson said. “But in terms of the way I play the game, I don’t think it changes. My job description is still the same: run fast, get open, catch the football and be a good teammate.”

To further address the wide receiver issue the Cardinals promoted wide receiver Andre Baccellia to the active roster from the practice squad. And they signed former Bills wide receiver Jalen Virgil to the practice squad. In addition, their other healthy wide receivers are Greg Dortch and Xavier Weaver. On the practice squad are Tejhuan Palmer, Jalen Brooks and Virgil.
As for McBride, he isn’t concerned about being under pressure to make plays, stating:
“I think about doing my job the highest way I can,” McBride said. “I do know we are down a few receivers so I need to step up but I just think about doing my job and catching the ball.”
And the head coach, Jonathan Gannon, is taking all the injuries in stride. He said:
“It’s life in the NFL,” coach Jonathan Gannon said. “It’s our job to put a plan together and get ready to go out and compete and win. That’s the job.”
So we wish a speedy recovery to all the injured players as the Cardinals navigate their way through the multiple injuries.
