Another Head Coach Was Relieved Of His Duties As Cleveland Browns Parted Ways With Kevin Stefanski
In many ways the last game of the regular season produced a good day for them. After all Myles Garrett broke the single-season sack record. Andre Szmyt made the game-winning 49-yard field goal. Which allowed the team to close out the season on a winning note. But despite all that, another head coach was relieved of his duties as the Cleveland Browns parted ways with Kevin Stefanski. Although it seems doubtful if anyone was really caught by surprise with this firing.
There were rumblings all season long about Stefanski needing to be sent packing. Especially when it came to the handling of the quarterback position. The team had brought on veteran Joe Flacco, not only to start but to help mentor the rookie quarterbacks Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders. But then Flacco was traded to the Cincinnati Bengals and Stefanski made Gabriel the starting quarterback. Fans weren’t pleased with that decision, feeling that Sanders gave the team the best chance to win. Eventually Sanders did get to start after Gabriel suffered a concussion.
Therefore, the Haslam owners felt it necessary to make this move. Following is their statement on the matter:
“We have tremendous gratitude for Kevin’s leadership of the Cleveland Browns over the last six seasons,” Managing and Principal Partners Dee and Jimmy Haslam said in a statement. “He is a good football coach and an even better person. We appreciate all his hard work and dedication to our organization but our results over the last two seasons have not been satisfactory, and we believe a change at the head coaching position is necessary. We wish Kevin, Michelle and the Stefanski family all the best in the future. Andrew Berry will continue to lead our football operations.”

After wishing the Stefanski’s the best, the Haslams finished their statement by saying:
“The entirety of our focus is on building a team that brings our fans the success they long deserve, and we will continue to work relentlessly towards that goal and invest whatever resources necessary to build a winning football program. Andrew will immediately begin our thorough process to find an outstanding new head coach and leader of our football team. We have an exciting young core to build upon, and Andrew and his team are intent on adding talent to this core and building out a roster that can achieve sustainable success.”
Stefanski was first hired by the Browns as head coach on Jan. 13, 2020. And to be fair he did lead the Browns to two total postseason appearances and two 11-win seasons in six seasons. Joining the legendary Paul Brown as the only coaches in team history to record multiple seasons with at least 11 regular season wins.
But at the end of this season it wasn’t enough to save his job. So the Browns begin another head coach hunt.
