Angels Swept the Dodgers For First Time Since 2010
Here’s something you don’t see all the time. Especially, when it comes to the men in blue. The Dodgers may drop a game or two, but they don’t always just get plain swept. That is till their neighbors came for a visit. On Sunday, the Angels swept the Dodgers for the first time since 2010.
Yes, as one can see time flies. It has been over a decade since the Angels have accomplished the feat they were able to achieve with this Freeway Series. 15 years to be exact.
Nonetheless, the Angels also have some other bragging rights this year. A claim that no other ball club can make as of yet. They are the first team to sweep the Dodgers this season; in a series of three or four games.
However, how did the Halos get the sweep? Simply put, they played extremely well. They scored 23 runs over the three game matchup against the Dodgers.
Game one they won in dominate fashion, 6-2. Game two was a high scoring game for both teams; but the Angels scored five runs in the seventh inning alone. Once again getting the victory, 11-9.
And on Sunday, they still gave the Dodgers plenty of problems. Angels beat writer, Rhett Bollinger sums up the Halos’ Game 3 performance mentioning,
“Travis d’Arnaud with a go-ahead homer in the eighth, RBI single in the fifth. Yusei Kikuchi allows 1 ER in 5 2/3 IP. Zach Neto leadoff homer, and Taylor Ward two-run homer in first. Freeway Series sweep. First for Angels since 2010.”

Noah Camras a journalist for Dodger Nation adds, “The Dodgers were just swept by the Angels at Dodger Stadium for the first time since 2019, when the Halos swept a two-game series. Their last three-game sweep of the Dodgers was in 2010. The Angels outscored the Dodgers, 23-15, in the series.”
So from starting pitching to relief as well as the Angels batting lineup, everyone did their jobs. Could this be the spark that the Angels need to get on a consistent winning path? Well, a catalyst for more success would definitely be welcomed by Angels fans.
Right now the Angels are last in their division with 20 wins for the season. Seattle Mariners lead the AL West with 26 wins. But with plenty of season left the Halos could get back in the mix. We’ll have to see if they do.
