Anaheim Ducks Acquire Cutter Gauthier in Trade; Gauthier Excited About New Team
In sports, every time we turn around there is a new trade. Teams are constantly trying to shore up holes, as well as make their teams stronger. Therefore, these types of transactions are not so surprising. For instance, over in Anaheim, they made a pretty swell deal. The Anaheim Ducks acquire Cutter Gauthier, and the guy could not be happier to be apart of the organization.
Of course fans will have to adjust after this trade. They lost a defensemen. However, Gauthier is a nice, sneaky pickup for the Ducks.
This week Anaheim excitedly announced the news to their fandom, via social media. In a post the NHL team states,
“TRADE: We have acquired left wing Cutter Gauthier from the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for defenseman Jamie Drysdale and a second-round selection in the 2025 NHL Draft.
A terrific player, teammate and person from the moment he arrived in Anaheim. Thank you for everything, JD. Best of luck to you in Philly.”
Drysdale is a very good player. His main con, is that he struggles to stay healthy. He has dealt with injuries; but if he can stay well; he’ll be a useful addition to the Flyers.
Gauthier is a guy with a lot of upside. A lot of potential. If he lives up to expectations, then Ducks hockey will be fun to watch for years; especially if he chooses to sign. Additionally, the Ducks are heavy on the defensemen side, so this trade of moving one gets them going in the right direction with more of what they really need.
Anaheim Ducks Acquire Cutter Gauthier in Trade; Gauthier Excited About New Team
On an episode of Light the Lamp on Ducks Stream, Gauthier is interviewed; and he discusses his excitement on becoming a member of the Anaheim team. Also, he mentions his thoughts on some of the Ducks’ players. Cutter says,
“Those guys are some pretty big names in hockey we’re talking about and a lot of young guys who’ve got some really, really high-end skill,” Gauthier said with a smile. “I love watching McTavish play and obviously Zegras, too. It’s been cool to watch them play and see how well they’ve done in the NHL thus far. I’m extremely honored and thrilled to be on their team one day and chase the dream we are all dreaming.
I can’t be more thrilled about Anaheim and what they’ve got coming up here. I’m really excited to get out there. I’m super excited to get things going. [Verbeek] mentioned it’s a little bit of a younger team but also has a lot of experience as well. He’s ready to turn things around and get things going. I can’t wait to be a part of the rebuild.”
Cutter Gauthier Joins Anaheim Ducks- His Impact
Nevertheless, how does Cutter feel like he adds to the Ducks? What is he bringing to the table? Gauthier believes he’ll have an impactful effect on the team now and as they continue to build in the future. Gauthier states,
“I’d say I’m a two-way, kind of a complete package player. Love to score goals and I love to set up plays. I like to play a physical game as well. [Also] love playing every situation. I like when the coach can look down the bench and if we’re up a goal or down a goal with a minute left, he has the outright confidence in me playing and helping the team win.
That’s the biggest thing for me. I’ll do whatever it takes to help the team win.”
Sounds like a great guy. Awesome teammate. And definitely the person you want during a tough spot in the game. Therefore, nice job by the Ducks getting Cutter Gauthier; and looking forward to seeing how the team performs in the future.
