After A Long Wait Aaron Rodgers Officially Signed With The Pittsburgh Steelers

He has spent 21 years in the league and is considered by many to be a future hall of famer. So he was patiently courted by one of the league’s greatest franchises. However, what we thought would be a quickly done deal turned out to be a big tease. Will he or won’t he? Would another team swoop in and grab him up? Well the rumors and innuendos surrounding him have finally been put to rest. After a long wait, Aaron Rodgers has officially signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

As was reported by ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter:

“QB Aaron Rodgers was in the team’s training facility today to sign his one-year, $13.65 million contract that includes $10 million guaranteed and has a maximum value of $19.5 million. The deal includes $5.85 million worth of playtime and team performance incentives.”

“New Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers will wear No. 8 this season. The No. 8 jersey had belonged to Steelers punter Corliss Waitman, but no longer. Waitman now will wear No. 3, which last year belonged to Russell Wilson.”

Rodgers, who is 41, arrived at the practice facility just after 8 a.m. two days after agreeing to terms with the Steelers. He was met at the door by general manager Omar Khan. Following the first practice of Pittsburgh’s mandatory minicamp on Tuesday, he is expected to meet with the media. This will be Rodgers’ third team after spending 18 years with the Green Bay Packers and two years with the New York Jets.

During his stellar career he has thrown for 62,952 yards, 503 touchdowns to 116 interceptions and played in 248 games. Throughout his career he has made so many last second Hail Mary passes to win games. But he’s not getting any younger and this could be the final season of his NFL career. But with this one-year contract he wants to go out on top after his disappointing time with the Jets. And the Steelers hope that he can get them past the wild card round of the playoffs for the first time in eight years.

Another interesting tidbit is the game against the Packers that will take place in primetime on Sunday October 25, 2025. Jordan Love, former backup to Rodgers will come to town to see if the student can defeat the teacher. Love sat behind Rodgers for three years prior to taking on the starting role after Rodgers was traded to the Jets.

“It’s going to be fun,” Love told Chanel3000’s Jason Wilde on Friday. “It’s going to be awesome. I’m excited for it. I can’t wait to be on different sides meeting up. I know we’ll talk pregame, things like that, and then hopefully we can exchange jerseys after.”

Can Rodgers be the quarterback that he and the Steelers hope that he can be? We don’t know but it will be fun finding out!
