Aces A’ja Wilson Expected to Re-Sign With Vegas on Historic WNBA $1.4 Million Supermax
The WNBA has been experiencing numerous firsts and successes. While the league had been on an uptick path, it was the WNBA 2024 draft class headlined by Caitlin Clark, Cameron Brink, Rickea Jackson, Angel Reese and Carla Leite that propelled the league to new heights. Since then, the WNBA has become profitable; triggering revenue sharing with active players for the first time in history. The money is freely flowing (about a billion dollars in expansion fees and a new multi-billion dollar media deal); and now with a new CBA agreement the WNBA women are about to be shown the money. The first… the Las Vegas Aces A’ja Wilson is expected to re-sign on a historic new WNBA supermax salary of $1.4 million as soon as possible.
Women’s basketball is definitely entering a new era. Especially, when it comes to pay. In college, athletes can now gain earnings through NIL; however, the Women’s National Basketball Association found itself playing catch up. Under the past CBA, players salary would be closer to $60k-$75k. With supermax contracts around $250k. Now, women ballers can enter the league making at least four times the old minimum. Progress indeed.
Now, Wilson and many others will have the opportunity to make between $300k-$1.4M. In fact, it’s basically the entire league. 80 percent of the league was holding out for the increased salaries players fought for in the new agreement. Free agency was delayed because of the long, drawn out negotiations, but will begin once the new CBA is ratified.
Nevertheless, Wilson being the first to sign the historic supermax contract makes sense. Her résumé is among the best of the best in the league. If not, simply the best.

A’ja Wilson is the only four-time league MVP and has led the Aces to three championships in four years. Additionally, she is the first player in WNBA or NBA history to claim the league scoring title, MVP, Defensive Player of the Year and Finals MVP in one season. She also joined NBA legend Bill Russell as the only other player to win three MVPs and three championships within four seasons.
And if all the above isn’t enough, in 2024 A’ja became the first player in league history to surpass 1,000 points during the regular season. During that same 2024 season, she also broke the record for single-season scoring average with 26.9 points per game.
Wilson has put on a show in the WNBA. And earned every cent of her upcoming contract. Therefore, congratulations to the one and only, A’ja Wilson.
