A Look Back At Two Amazing Blocked Kicks
Jamie Collins announced to ESPN on Friday that he is retiring. In his honor, let’s take a look back at two amazing blocked kicks. One was a blocked extra point by Jamie. It happened against the Indianapolis Colts in October 2015. The other was a blocked field goal by Kam Chancellor. Kam actually did his block first. It was the 2014 divisional round between the Seahawks and Panthers.
Both blocks were incredible. Kam actually had to try to block the field goal twice. The Panthers were lined up for the field goal and Kam leaped over the offensive lineman. He got to the kicker but missed blocking the ball. However, there was a penalty against the Panthers. They set up for the field goal again and Kam repeats his leap. This time he gets a piece of the ball and it goes wide of the goal post. Making that kind of leap once is crazy. Twice is just showing off, lol.
The next season Jamie Collins took the leap. His block involved an extra point. He got a running start and timed his leap perfectly. Soaring over the offensive line he got right in front of the kicker. Then he used his body to block the kick and the attempt was no good. They way he moved was so smooth and fluid. Both Jamie and Kam had athleticism that was off the charts. And their vertical leaps were ridiculous.
Jamie played for 10 seasons and had two stints with the New England Patriots. He also spent some time withe the Cleveland Browns and the Detroit Lions. Jamie said his career was wonderful and he had a lot fun. However, now he is ready to relax and spend time with his family. Congrats to Jamie on his retirement. Thank you for all the fantastic, athletic plays you made. You will be missed.

This week starts the bye weeks of the NFL. First up are the Browns, Chargers, Seahawks and Buccaneers. In other news, the Jaguars remained in London and will face the Bills. Will Josh Allen ball out or fizzle out. I can’t wait to find out. The Sunday Night game features the Cowboys @ 49ers. We’ll see if the Cowboys are up for the challenge. Enjoy the games Sportsfeens!
