A Few Takeaways From The 2024 NFL Schedule Release

After an unusual delay the wait finally ended last night. We knew who the opponents were for each team but now we know when they will play. So here are a few takeaways from the 2024 NFL Schedule release. The Monday Night games had some interesting notes. Neither the Panthers or the Patriots will play on Monday. However, the Buccaneers will play on Monday night in Week 7 and again in Week 9. Whereas the 49ers will open and close the Monday Night schedule in Week 1 and Week 17. Other teams that will play twice on Monday night are the Jets, Falcons, Bills, Lions, and Chiefs just to name a few.

When it comes to which team has the toughest schedule it depends on how their opponents performed last season. So according to USA Today the top three teams with the toughest schedules are the 1) Cleveland Browns, 2) Baltimore Ravens and 3) Pittsburgh Steelers. All of whom are in the same division, the AFC North. Therefore, they will be playing each other twice in the regular season. And we can’t forget about the other division rival, the Cincinnati Bengals. With a healthy Joe Burrow back in the mix he will add even more spice to the competition.

On the other hand that leaves the question of which teams have the easiest schedules. Sticking with USA Today, the top three easiest schedules belong to the 1) New Orleans Saints, 2) Atlanta Falcons, and 3) Chicago Bears. The Falcons signed Kirk Cousins and the Bears drafted Caleb Williams. Could the quarterback changes allow them to take advantage of a friendlier schedule? We shall see.

A Few Takeaways From The 2024 NFL Schedule Release

The first bye week starts in Week 5 and the last one is in Week 14. That seems like a disadvantage for the Ravens, Broncos, Texans, Colts, Patriots, and Commanders who have the Week 14 bye. Battling for 13 weeks straight in a long season without a break could be a game changer. Especially for the Patriots who will play an international game in October. Not having the bye week after that game will likely leave them jet lagged heading into the next week’s game.
