A Dreary Night For the Bengals As Ravens Got the Victory
It looked as if the Bengals had turned things around. But then they lost to the Texans last Sunday. Things did not improve on Thursday. It was a dreary night for the Bengals as the Ravens got the victory on Thursday. They were right with the Ravens in the beginning. At one point in the first half they took the lead 10-7. But then the axe fell.
Late in the second quarter Joe Burrow suffered an injury. Right now the report is that he suffered a sprained wrist. On the sideline he tried throwing a pass and ended up grimacing in pain, dropping into a squat. He was not able to return to the game.
However, Lamar Jackson also had an injury scare. But he was back on the field on the next possession. Although Lamar escaped serious injury Mark Andrews was not so fortunate. According to head coach John Harbaugh, Andrews has a very serious ankle injury, like a season ending injury. There was concern that the Ravens would not be effective without him.
And that’s where Odell Beckham Jr. (OBJ) stepped in. Or rather ran in. He ended the night with 4 receptions for 116 yards. It looked like the OBJ we came to know and love. Making guys miss is his specialty. Along with stopping on a dime and changing direction seamlessly. No doubt this is the kind of production the Ravens were looking for when they signed him to a one year $15 million contract.

Jake Browning filled in for Joe Burrow and did a good job. Especially considering the Ravens smelled blood in the water and went hunting. But on one play Browning used his legs and picked up a good chunk of yards and a first down. The Bengals have a tough schedule for the remaining season. So Browning is going to have his work cut out for him. Unless Burrow is able to get back on the field. Having an extra three days off due to the Thursday night game may be helpful.
Despite the Bengals loss they did keep fighting. We’ll see how things play out for them as the season is rapidly coming to an end. And on that note, I’m looking forward to the games on Sunday. See you soon sportsfeens!
