Kevin Durant Becomes 8th player in NBA History to Record 30,000 Career Points
KD is one of the best NBA players we have ever been blessed to see. He’s accomplished so much in his stellar career and continues to have gas left in the tank. Now, he adds yet another accomplishment to the history books and in his legendary legacy. On Tuesday night, the Suns Kevin Durant becomes just the 8th player in NBA history to record 30,000 career points.
Who are the other seven? Well, three names probably come to mind easily. We’re talking Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant and Lebron James. But here’s the list of the seven others in it’s entirety:

— Abdul-Jabbar
— Malone
— Bryant
— Jordan
— Nowitzki
— Chamberlain
And now KD can cement in his name as well. He worked hard and deserves all his flowers. Durant is now tied with Abdul-Jabbar as the third-fastest to 30,000 points, achieving the feat in his 1,101st game. However, here’s how his 30,000 career points breaks down per team:

Durant had plenty of support out in the audience rooting him on towards his historic achievement. Including individuals who are fellow athletes. Such as MLB superstar Julio Rodriguez of the Seattle Mariners. And 2024 NHL Rookie of the Year Connor Bedard.
Nevertheless, entering the matchup against the Grizzlies, Kevin Durant only needed to put up 26 points in order to place his name among an exclusive group of elite NBA players. For Durant, that’s almost child’s play; just another day at work. Last season he averaged 27.1 points per game. So far for the 2024-2025 season Kevin is averaging 26.9 points. So then, fans felt pretty confident that Tuesday night, would be the night.

During the first half Durant was well on his way to officially hitting 30k. He had 19 points. So he would have an entire second half to rack up a mere seven points. Anyone in Vegas would like their odds in this case!
When all was said and done not only would Kevin get the 26 points he needed; in true Durant fashion he would go over and beyond. KD finished the night with 34 points. So then from gold medalist in Paris to joining the 30K club. Congrats to Kevin Durant!
