A TOTAL BLOCKBUSTER! Come on, who really saw this one coming? Who had this one on their NBA bingo card? No one, that’s who. On Saturday night, the National Basketball Association was rocked to its very core in a thrilling trio exchange. After LA wins big at the iconic Madison Square Garden, a three-way trade sends Luka Doncic to the Lakers and Anthony Davis to the Dallas Mavericks.
This move on the part of Dallas is a bit of a head scratcher. Nevertheless, Los Angeles’ front office wasted no time and finalized this golden opportunity. Luka slots nicely in with Lebron and company. And the Mavericks feel more than confident that AD still has the Mavs being an offensive threat along with Kyrie and Thompson.
Currently, in the standings both teams are running around middle of the pack out in the west. The Mavericks have 26 wins for the season. And the Lakers are ahead by a smidge with 28 wins. If the season ended right now both would make the playoffs. However, with a good chunk of season left; and plenty of teams circling with just about the same record; any organization really wanting to win would want a little more assurance.
But still? Why Luka lol? The number one question in everyone’s minds; is why move a player like Doncic? Tim MacMahon reveals,
“The Mavs had major concerns about moving forward with Luka Doncic due to his constant conditioning issues and the looming commitment of another supermax contract extension this summer.”

So the Lakers, Mavericks and Utah Jazz all came to the table and made an offer that none of them could refuse. ESPN’s Shams Charania pinched us all and let us know none of us were in fact dreaming. The deal is REAL. Charania explained the nitty-gritty of it all stating,
BREAKING: The Dallas Mavericks are trading Luka Doncic, Maxi Kleber and Markieff Morris to the Los Angeles Lakers for Anthony Davis, Max Christie and a 2029 first-round pick, sources tell ESPN. Three-team deal that includes Utah.
The Mavericks approached the Lakers recently and offered Luka Doncic, sources tell ESPN. Lakers brass met and believed the 25-year-old Doncic has the ability to be the face of their franchise for the next decade while giving Anthony Davis a win-now move in Dallas.
