Netflix Court of Gold Documentary—Team USA Versus the Basketball World

Love sports documentaries? Well, we have one for you that you will definitely want to keep an eye out for real soon. Netflix’s Court of Gold documentary is dropping and it focuses on the 2024 Paris summer Olympics in which the men’s basketball team won gold.

But there were challenges. They had to beat international competition that have NBA stars and talent as well. Also, who can forget South Sudan in the preliminaries that lost by like ONE point. Crazy. Plus, a good chunk of the teams straight up doubted Team USA. Not believing they had the same “Dream Team” firepower as in the past.

Well, at Paris… such teams found out. While the globe is catching up in some ways in basketball; the USA seems to still have the edge needed to stay on top of the podium. Which is amazing since it is always a group of players from different teams thrown together weeks before to go take on a tournament of countries.

Netflix’s documentary explores this subject and interviews numerous players. Guys from other regions said they had better chemistry than Team USA. But when you have Lebron James, Kevin Durant, Steph Curry, Anthony Edwards and Anthony Davis on the court; should you really doubt their ability to win?

Well, Kevin Durant addressed the chemistry issue in the documentary and even sort of laughed it off. Durant states, “Oh, okay. Alright. That chemistry going to help you when you have to guard Steph?” Point made lol.

Especially, when you think about what Curry did during that final matchup against France. In the final minutes Steph went OFF! Knocking down threes like rent was due. Clearly, chemistry was not a problem.

Also, a quick note on Durant. He too did work in Paris. During the summer games Kevin Durant became the USA Olympic All-Time Scorer; officially breaking Lisa Leslie’s Record.

So now, basketball fans get to relive Team USA’s victorious Olympic run. Rolling Stone summarized what audiences will get to see stating,

“At the Paris Olympic Games last summer, the U.S. basketball team secured their fifth consecutive gold medal with help from the Golden State Warriors point guard Steph Curry, who secured a handful of three-pointers in the game’s final minutes. The Court of Gold documents the pressure and preparation ahead of the crucial game.

Court of Gold gives behind the scenes access to the men’s basketball teams from the U.S., France, Serbia, and Canada vying for the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The Jake Rogal-directed docuseries features interviews with players, coaches, and fanatics including former U.S. players like Dwyane Wade, Tony Parker, Carmelo Anthony, and coach Steve Kerr. French players like Victor Wembanyama, Serbian players like Bogdan Bogdanović, Canadian players like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and RJ Barrett also appear in the six-part series.”

Nice. Looks to be like another sports hit from Netflix. Court of Gold will premiere on February 18th.
