Ravens Got Early Lead And Eliminated Steelers From Playoffs

The No.1 offense was slated to battle against a team that closed the season on a four game losing streak. One quarterback had won a Super Bowl and the other was looking to get to his first Super Bowl. However, the Pittsburgh Steelers looked very uninspired in the first half of the game. Initially, they didn’t generate much offense or defense. So the Baltimore Ravens got out to an early lead and eventually eliminated the Steelers from the playoffs.

On the opening drive of the game the Steelers picked up a first down but then had to punt. The Ravens looked a little shaky with the punt return being muffed and recovered by them. However, they went 99 yards and scored on their first drive. Lamar Jackson found Rashod Bateman wide open in the end zone for the 15 yard touchdown. Pittsburgh punted again and it was on to the second quarter.

The Ravens stalled on their next drive and punted. Giving the ball back to the Steelers. Pittsburgh had 4th & 1 at PIT 29 but chose to punt instead of going for it. Thereafter, the Ravens scored their second touchdown.

On their next possession, Pittsburgh moved the ball enough to pick up a first down but an offensive holding penalty on George Pickens put them at 3rd & 18 at PIT 34. They couldn’t convert it and had to punt. The Ravens would capitalize and make them pay.

Baltimore went on another long drive, 10 plays and 90 yards. No one can extend a play like Lamar Jackson. He moved forward, backward and side to side to keep the play alive. Eventually he found Justice Hill for the five yard touchdown. In the first half, the Ravens had 19 first downs while the Steelers had two. It was the first time the Steelers were shut out in the first half of a playoff game. The halftime score was 0-21, Ravens.

Would things change for the better for the Steelers? Slightly. But not much.

The Ravens got the ball to start the third quarter but had to punt after picking up a first down. But on the punt the Ravens downed the ball on the PIT 2. However, Russell Wilson found Calvin Austin for a big gain of 25 yards. And they went on to score their first touchdown of the game.

However, the Ravens immediately answered with ANOTHER 44 yard rushing touchdown by Derrick Henry. But Pittsburgh did its best to get back to the end zone. With seven plays the Steelers also scored again, a 36-yard touchdown reception by George Pickens.

That was the last scoring play of the game as both teams continued to punt. Pittsburgh came alive in the second half but their lackluster first half was too much to overcome. Whereas the Ravens looked more determined and fired up to win the game. They won this game 14-28 and they should be fun to watch going forward. Thoughts?
