NBA Postpones the Lakers and Clippers Saturday Games as Wildfires Worsen

More postponements are underway. As the situation in Los Angeles becomes more dire; the NBA has made a few adjustments and decisions along with the basketball organizations affected. It was announced that the NBA would be postponing the Los Angeles Lakers and the LA Clippers Saturday games as wildfires in the region worsen. The NBA, NHL, and NFL have all now moved venues or postponed LA games.
As of Saturday morning, the five devastating wind-fed fires have killed at least 11 people; and swept through 39,000 acres in the greater Los Angeles area. Destroying entire communities and more than 12,000 structures. At least 153,000 L.A. residents are under evacuation orders.
Nonetheless, regarding the two games that were previously on schedule to commence during the weekend, the NBA reveals:
“The National Basketball Association games scheduled for tomorrow between the San Antonio Spurs and Los Angeles Lakers at Crypto.com Arena and between the Charlotte Hornets and LA Chippers at Intuit Dome have been postponed due to the ongoing wildfires in the Los Angeles area. The dates for the rescheduled games will be announced at a later time.

The NBA and the Clippers and Lakers organizations have been in communication with local officials in Los Angeles and Inglewood about the ongoing situation in the Los Angeles area and the game postponements ensure no resources will be diverted from the wildfire response efforts.”

Furthermore, the league is already in the process of helping those who are battling and have had to flee their homes; businesses and communities for safety. They aim to provide aid and assistance now, as well as in the future. Therefore, the National Basketball Association also announced:
“The NBA and the National Basketball Players Association are donating one million dollars for immediate relief to the American Red Cross; World Central Kitchen and other organizations to support those affected by this disaster. The wildfire situation throughout LA continues to deepen concerns. Evacuation orders for the largest blaze, the Palisades Fire; are expanding as it sweeps east and threatens Brentwood and Encino. It is 11% contained.
