Packers Demolish New Orleans Saints on the Road to Being Playoff Bound
The Green Bay Packers entered their Monday Night Football matchup being only one win away from a playoff berth. Giving them a chance to return back to the postseason since 2023. Moreover, the chances of them winning was very high. The team and opponent they would be hosting for the evening, the New Orleans Saints, were just 5-9 and dealing with key injuries. Green Bay took advantage and the Packers demolished the New Orleans Saints on the road to being playoff bound.
The Packers are no strangers to the postseason. They last made the playoffs in 2023, when they lost the Divisional Round. Yet, they have been in the playoffs a total of 36 times in their 104 seasons. Since 1993, the team has enjoyed making the playoffs 23 times and winning two Super Bowls; in 1997 (under head coach Mike Holmgren) and 2010-2011 season (under head coach Mike McCarthy). In the last 20 years (since 2000) the Packers have made it to the playoffs an impressive 17 times.
But the Packers are in a new era and steadily working towards their goal, bringing another Super Bowl to their fans. End an over decade drought.
On Monday, Green Bay took the first step. Jordan Love and company were dominant. Just highlight after highlight. They marched down the field without much resistance. In case you missed it, here’s what went down.
The Packers scored touchdowns on all three of their first possessions. Whereas the Packers punted on the their first two possessions and fumbled on their third. But fortunately for the Saints, Green Bay didn’t capitalize on the turnover and had to punt. The Saints had one last chance to score before the half but only got to 3rd & 22 at GB 46. Time ran out, the halftime score was 21-0.

In the second half Green Bay’s scoring cooled off a bit. However, Saints backup quarterback Spencer Rattler had some success throwing the ball. But was off on some of his passes and on one occasion threw an interception. Green Bay kicked two field goals and scored another touchdown. Prior to being taken out of the game Josh Jacobs did some real damage rushing 13 times for 69 yards, Green Bay won 34-0. Up until this game there had not been a shutout this season, this was the first one. There has never been an NFL season without a shutout.
There are two more games left to play. So the playoff picture when it comes to seeding is still all over the place. However, most likely Green Bay will be the final wild card. This is also their fifth time in six years making the playoffs.
