Bears Delivered A Thursday Night Beatdown

Washington may be the Commanders but Chicago took control of the game. The winless Bears delivered a Thursday night beatdown. They were fresh off a loss to the Broncos after blowing a double digit lead. In this game, they started off with a bang scoring a touchdown on their first possession. However, fear loomed over them perhaps giving up a lead again. But they didn’t need to worry about that in the end. They played an excellent first half of football ending with a score of 27-3. The battle was won in time of possession, passing yards, and rushing yards. Whereas the Commanders could not get anything going.

Earvin “Magic” Johnson joined the broadcast team pre-game to discuss his team. He is part owner of the Washington Commanders. Bringing back the honor and glory of the former Redskins team is part of the objective for the Commanders. However, the team did not live up to expectations last night. After the game, Johnson posted on X (Twitter) his thoughts. “Tonight the Commanders played with no intensity or fire. We didn’t compete in the first half and got down 27-3 heading into halftime. It was too big of a hole to climb out of and that is why we ended up losing 40-20.” Obviously this is not how to restore the reputation of the team.

To be fair, QB Sam Howell threw for 388 yards and 2 touchdowns but it wasn’t enough to overcome their deficit. As Johnson said they didn’t play with intensity in the first half. Whatever their game plan was it didn’t yield any results. The defense couldn’t tackle to save their lives. The Chicago Bears running backs had their way with the Commanders. At one point Khalil Herbert dragged about 6 Commanders with him for a first down and 16 yards.

The Commanders tried to mount a comeback in the second half. But it was too little, too late. During halftime, Richard Sherman joked that he would suit up for the Commanders. As he was not happy with the lack of pass coverage. The Commanders looked lost and confused during the game. Their record is 2-3 but things aren’t looking good at this point. Head coach Ron Rivera will need to clean up their act and quickly. Fans are already calling for him to be fired. I’m not ready to join the crowd on that point yet. But the clock is ticking…
