2025 WNBA Schedule: Commissioner’s Comments on the Upcoming Season
It has been a busy week in sports with NBA Cup games, a big viewership NFL game played in snow; a moving hockey tribute and MLB rumor mill on fire regarding an upcoming generational talent signing. However, in the midst of such events, the W revealed what many have been anticipating. The 2025 WNBA schedule.
Some quick overall things to know: The season will kickoff on May 16 and run through to September 11. The regular season will feature a record-high 44 games per team, with each team playing 22 home games and 22 road games. Additionally, all 13 teams will be in action during the opening weekend of the season as part of WNBA Tip-Off 2025 presented by CarMax. So get ready of plenty of women’s basketball.
However, right off the bat the league understood the assignment. Giving the people the “Bird versus Magic.” The WNBA’s season opener weekend for 2025 will feature a thrilling showdown between the Chicago Sky and Indiana Fever.
Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese faced off multiple times during the 2024 season. And basketball fans will get to see them do so again during their second season in the league. Furthermore, being in person for the opener is going to cost some coin. With tickets going for around $300.

When was the schedule was officially released to the public, WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert shared a few thoughts. She states,
“We look forward to tipping off the WNBA’s 29th season in May of 2025 and continuing to build on the success of last season, when the WNBA delivered its most-watched Draft and All-Star Game, and set records for viewership, attendance, digital consumption and merchandise sales. The upcoming free agency period and the 2025 WNBA Draft presented by State Farm® will create a tremendous level of excitement, and we are also looking forward to the expansion Golden State Valkyries taking the court for the first time.”
Yes, there is a lot to look forward to in the WNBA. The fan favorite All-Star game will be played on July 19.
