UConn’s Paige Bueckers First NIL Athlete to Design and Release Nike Shoe
Say it with us everyone… MOTION! Yes, she is still in college, but this young, talented woman is moving and shaking with the best of them. And she is about to make a little sneaker history in the process. UConn’s Paige Bueckers will be the first NIL athlete to design and release a Nike shoe; the G.T. Hustle 3.
This shoe will leverage Nike’s best basketball innovations in a silhouette to help maximize the energy return from tip-off to buzzer. One element that is going to be utilized fully for exceptional performance is a forefoot Air Zoom unit and sewn-in Air Zoom strobel. These create a double-stacked layer of Air underfoot for enhanced energy storage and return.
So some great touches are going into the design. Nevertheless, fan favorite sneaker enthusiast Nick DePaula broke the news about the upcoming Paige Bueckers shoe. He reveals,
“UConn star Paige Bueckers will be the 1st NIL athlete to launch a Nike PE basketball sneaker, when her GT Hustle 3 PE drops on 12/7.
Features her favorite colors, area codes for UConn & hometown in Minnesota, along with “Be You, Be Great” message from her dad & “Buckets” on heel.”
Very nice. The iconic shoe brand also says:
- Paige Bueckers is the first NIL athlete to design and launch a Nike Player Edition basketball sneaker.
- Her Nike G.T. Hustle 3 is meant to propel her performance during the final season of her illustrious collegiate career.
- Clad in Paige’s favorite colors and rife with personalized details, the silhouette also reflects the style she brings to the game.
- The Nike G.T. Hustle 3 Paige Bueckers Player Edition will be available December 7 on SNKRS and at select retail locations.

But what does the lady of the hour have to say? Regarding her historic shoe drop, Paige states,
“It’s definitely motivating to wear your own shoe. I grew up wearing Nikes — all the signature shoes — so it’s surreal to have this Player Edition model. I just want to show out in it.”
There are so many details that make this shoe special to me. This is the perfect colorway for me: I love baby blue and lavender, and the Radial Knit makes me feel fly. My favorite detail is the message from my dad, and the tribute to both of my homes is so meaningful for my first Player Edition model.”
