After Tough Loss To Jets Can Texans Bounce Back?

It’s easy to forget how young he is and that this is only his second year in the NFL. At the ripe old age of 23 C.J. Stroud plays and speaks like a veteran of many years. However, he may be facing his biggest challenge yet in his young career. After the tough loss to the New York Jets, can Stroud and the Houston Texans bounce back? They have been dealt some blows by the injury bug with Nico Collins being out although he is expected to return Week 10. And the terrible news about Stefon Diggs being out for the rest of the season due to an ACL injury. But the most glaring issue for the Texans looks to be their offensive line.

Stroud has been sacked a whopping 30 times this season and it’s only Week 9. In last night’s game alone he was sacked eight times. That’s a beating no quarterback should have to take. Not if they are expected to make it through a whole season. And he has been under much pressure when he’s not being sacked. Most of the time he gets flushed from the pocket and has to throw on the run. As a result some of his throws aren’t as accurate as we have become accustomed to seeing. But no one was more upset about the loss to the Jets than Stroud. He said after the game:

“It’s not time to hang our head down and feel sorry for ourselves,” Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud said. “It’s time to answer the call. We got guys in that locker room that I believe in and I trust in. We’re going to be able to be a really good football team and jt doesn’t define us,” Stroud said. “But it definitely is a wakeup call.”

Head coach DeMeco Ryans wasn’t happy with the performance either:

“I’m not sure what’s happening up front,” coach DeMeco Ryans said. “We’ll watch the film and see what it is, but obviously you give up eight sacks, and every dropback or pass situation looks like we’re in scramble mode, so it’s just not good enough when we can’t operate on time, and we’ve got to get that fixed. Any time you get sacked that many times, it’s not good enough. We don’t want our quarterback getting hit, as many hits as he took. It’s not good enough. We’ve got to adjust. We’ve got to change things moving forward.”

However, I don’t think it’s time to panic just yet. They have a lead in their division and they still have some good players. Texans fans keep the faith.
