Could Haason Reddick Be Headed To The Detroit Lions?

He has orchestrated the longest holdout of the year thus far. While he hasn’t gotten a renegotiated deal with the Jets he allegedly has received permission to seek a trade. So with that little nugget of information could Haason Reddick be headed to the Detroit Lions? Just last week it appeared that all was lost for Reddick as his former agent CAA ended their relationship. However, he now has new representation with super agent Drew Rosenhaus. Rosenhaus made an appearance on the show The Facility with LeSean McCoy. He wouldn’t confirm that the Jets gave permission for a trade saying he couldn’t comment on that because it’s internal.

But when asked if he was going to make it happen for Haason to be playing for the Jets this year Rosenhaus said:

“I believe it will, Shady. I think we’re gonna make that happen. I didn’t get hired here for him to miss this season. But you will see Haason playing football this year and hopefully it will be with the Jets.”

Well that’s good news for Reddick if Rosenhaus can get him on a field either in New York or elsewhere. The Detroit Lions make sense for the pass rusher particularly since they just lost Aiden Hutchinson to a season-ending injury. Hutchinson led the league with 7.5 sacks before he suffered a broken tibia and fibula in the game against the Dallas Cowboys. They are also missing John Cominsky (knee) and Marcus Davenport (triceps) long-term. They’ll need help to replace those players and Reddick could help fill the gaps.

There are other teams interested in Reddick. Speaking of the Cowboys they also could use some help on the defensive side of the ball. With Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence out of the lineup Reddick could boost their pass rush.

Other potential trading partners could be the Atlanta Falcons, the San Francisco 49ers and even the Kansas City Chiefs. Steve Spagnuolo, the DC of the Chiefs, would probably love to have Reddick in the backfield with Chris Jones. So there is no shortage of options for Rosenhaus to pursue in behalf of his client. He’s no stranger to tough negotiations but this could be his biggest challenge yet.

Reddick hasn’t set foot in a Jets facility since he was traded to the team, so does it matter to him if he stays in New York? Or has he been left with hard feelings and would prefer a new team? We don’t have the answers to those questions but we can’t wait to find out.
