Kansas City Chiefs Praise 49ers Brock Purdy Ahead of Sunday Matchup
Of course when two teams play each other, they size each other up. They look for weaknesses, they look for strengths. All in the hopes of being able to put together a game plan that will give themselves enough of an advantage to walk away with a win. Andy Reid and company has been doing just that in preparation for their next game and even had some nice expressions regarding their next opponents. On Thursday, the Kansas City Chiefs praise 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy ahead of their Sunday matchup.
For starters, Spagnuolo kicked off the “respect fest.” Steve Spagnuolo, who’s arguably one of the best defensive coordinators in the NFL, easily spouted facts about Brock Purdy. During his presser he pays Purdy a compliment and discusses how effective he is against the blitz. Steve states,
“I can’t find a weakness in this quarterback. I mean every time I put the film on I’m more and more impressed.
To me the most impressive thing is that even if he’s not able to get it out quick on a blitz, he has a unique way of getting away from it. I just showed a play this morning where they brought quite a few people and he didn’t blink. He didn’t panic at all, and he was out of there… That’s a pretty good weapon for them to have to negate that part of our defense.”

During the Super Bowl earlier this year, the 49ers did play pretty well against the Chiefs. The two teams had to even take things into overtime in order to decide a winner. Therefore, Kansas City is not going to underestimate San Francisco.
Furthermore, many have the notion that Purdy is only good due to the supporting cast around him. However, listening to Spagnuolo and Andy Reid; obviously those that play him against him, don’t feel that way. They see a hardworking quarterback that can do damage like other quarterbacks if allowed.
Speaking of Andy Reid, he had this to say about Brock, “I think he is [one] heck of a player. I remember when the head coach at Iowa State saying that this guy changed the program around. And when we make a statement like that, and he’s a good football coach; when you make a statement like that that’s bold. And we all see why he said it. He was right on that. This kid is a heck of a football player.”
