Las Vegas Raiders Open To Trading Star WR Davante Adams
The drama has been going on for some time now. But it looks like things may be coming to a head. The Las Vegas Raiders have let it be known that they are open to trading their star WR Davante Adams. And the three-time All-Pro also requested to be traded. The Raiders want a package that would include a second-round draft pick and additional compensation, league sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Tuesday. Adams was originally drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the 2014 NFL Draft. In March 2022, the Packers traded Adams to the Raiders in exchange for their 2022 first and second round picks.
Things went well the first season with the Raiders as he caught 100 passes for 1,516 yards, and 14 touchdowns. Last season he put up 103 receptions, 1,144 yards, and eight touchdowns. The lower numbers in year two were likely related to the Raiders cutting former QB Derek Carr in the spring of 2023. Jordan Schultz posted about that situation:
Part of the reason why Davante Adams ended up with the Raiders was because of his relationship with Derek Carr. The team dumped his quarterback after one year, and many, many things have gone wrong since, which has left Adams frustrated, per sources. He’s tried to stay positive through it all, but he understands that a change of scenery would be ideal.
To add further fuel to the fire, it was reported that head coach Antonio Pierce’s verified Instagram account liked a Sports Illustrated Instagram post. The SI post wondered whether Adams had played his final game with Las Vegas. The like was later removed.

Speaking about the post with Kay Adams, he said, “I haven’t heard from him. I haven’t talked to him (Pierce). “… Social media is a beast so it’s a lot of people out there that saw it and wondering what’s going on and reaching out.”
Many teams would love to get the six-time Pro Bowler on their rosters. But the two leading candidates seem to be the New York Jets and the New Orleans Saints. Adams would have the option to reunite with either of his former quarterbacks which is likely appealing to him. Other teams also could be in the mix such as the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, a trade with division rival Kansas City Chiefs is very unlikely. I hope the Raiders won’t keep us in suspense and get a trade done quickly.
