“SHE DID IT!” Those three words are trending all over social media in just mere minutes after a historic tennis match win. The gorgeous and inspiring Coco Gauff Wins U.S. Open securing her very first grand slam at just 19 years of age!
She’s young. She’s a talent. And she is a champion. Probably not since the era of the Williams sisters has a player garnered so much attention on the court.
Coco Gauff’s U.S. Open is one for books because it was not an easy win. Oftentimes throughout the matches it looked like Coco may be nearing the end of her rope. However, Gauff displayed resilience and serious determination in order to change things around and get back on the path of being a winner.
Nevertheless, besides her own strength; there were a few notable people who helped her on the road to the top. People like who? Well, two music icons for starters.
In her showdown with Elise Mertens; Coco goes down a set. Yet… she prevails! How? Two words: Justin Bieber.
Yes, the Biebs himself is in the audience at this moment and time; and Gauff is fully aware of it. Coco later tells the media after her comeback win, “I was like ‘I can’t lose in front of Justin Bieber!’ I didn’t lose a game after I saw him.”

Yes, Coco also credits Beyonce with one of her wins. Gauff says when she went down in her match Friday (September 1); she started thinking of Queen Bey. Such thinking pays off because Coco comes from behind to win and advances to the next round. Go Girl!

However, it’s not only famous faces that keep Gauff going strong. Also, it’s her family. More specifically, her father.
A few days before her big U.S. Open win, Coco speaks to the media yet again about the support she receives. In reference to her father, Coco states,
“My dad isn’t in the box anymore because he gets too nervous. He’s somewhere in one of the suites and he’s been apparently doing laps around the stadium [laughter]. I don’t if he can hear me right now, but I felt his good energy.”
Yes, having your parentals around can be a big motivator and a nice pick me up when under stress. However, if Coco was nervous at all during matches, it is not showing. Her infectious smile and heartfelt laughs is all that many remember (besides her amazing rallies); from watching her play. Therefore, congratulations Coco, we know this only just the beginning.
