Tyreek Hill Was Voted No.1 And Got A New Contract

I think it’s safe to say that the “Cheetah” is having a very good day. Tyreek Hill was voted No. 1 on the Top 100 Players of 2024 and he got a new restructured contract from the Miami Dolphins. Have yourself a day sir, that’s quite the haul of accomplishments. So let’s dig in to the details of what went down.

First of all the Top 100 Players, as voted on by NFL players, has been in existence for 14 years. And Hill has become the first wide receiver to grace the No. 1 spot on the list. When the NFL Network first aired the annual list in 2011, Tom Brady grabbed the top spot. And claimed it three additional times. Patrick Mahomes claimed the spot twice. While other quarterbacks like Aaron Rodgers, Cam Newton, and Peyton Manning have also occupied No 1. It was about time for a wide receiver to take it.

But the good news kept coming for Hill, as he and the Dolphins agreed to a new restructured contract. As reported by Adam Schefter:

Pro-Bowl WR Tyreek Hill and the Dolphins reached agreement on a restructured contract worth $90 million over the next three years that includes $65 million guaranteed, per me and @Marcel_LJ. This brings the four-year total of fully guaranteed money to $106.5 million, the most ever for any receiver. No new years were added to the deal. The deal was negotiated by Drew Rosenhaus and Jason Rosenhaus.
The adjusted deal does not add any new years to his existing contract, per NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport. However, Hill is likely fine with that since his guaranteed money was increased. With this restructured contract for Hill, the Dolphins have locked down their top players including QB Tua Tagovailoa and WR Jaylen Waddle.

Hill is certainly worth the new money in his contract. It goes without saying that he is fast, hence his cheetah nickname. But he also has excellent production. In each of the last two seasons with the Dolphins he had 119 receptions and over 1700 yards each year. Plus he has sure hands so he’s not likely to drop any passes thrown his way.
In short, he’s the kind of receiver that can be a quarterback’s best friend. Tua has to be happy about getting his top wide receivers taken care of. With the regular season just about a month away, I’ll be happy to see all three of them on the field again. Congrats Cheetah, you earned it!
