DJ Moore and the Chicago Bears Agree to Four-Year $110 Million Extension

When you prove your value on the field. It’s easy for teams to write those checks. Case in point, DJ Moore and the Chicago Bears agree to a four-year $110 million extension. Contractually tying the 27 year-old to the Bears through the 2029 season.

This is a move many teams have been making over the last several months. Meaning it has been a hot offseason in terms of wide receivers getting extensions. Several franchises have backed trucks up in order to lock in their guys for a few years. For instance, here are some of the extensions that have got done so far:

Justin Jefferson: 4-years, $140M
DJ Moore: 4-years, $110M
Amon-Ra St. Brown: 4-years, $120.01M
Jaylen Waddle: 3-years, $84.75M
Nico Collins: 3-years, $72.75M
A.J. Brown: 3-years, $92M
DeVonta Smith: 3-years, $75M
Michael Pittman: 3-years, $70M
Jerry Jeudy: 3-years, $52.5M

Who is next? We can only expect that CeeDee Lamb has to be coming down the extension pipeline or close to it. But also Tyreek Hill, Ja’Marr Chase as well as Brandon Aiyuk could potentially being getting extended too in the near future.

Nevertheless, Moore now has his contract done and can get back to the task at hand; getting ready for the fast approaching season. NFL insider, Adam Schefter provided some financial intel regarding the Bears and DJ’s agreed upon extension. And explained why this deal is a bit historic for wide receivers. He reveals,

“DJ Moore and the Bears reached agreement on a four-year, $110 million extension that includes $82.6M guaranteed. The deal was negotiated by Drew Rosenhaus, Jason Rosenhaus and Robert Bailey.

Moore now has had the first 10 years of his career years guaranteed, a first in NFL history for a wide receiver.

In his first season with the Bears, DJ Moore had 96 receptions for 1,364 yards and 8 TDs — all career-highs.

With his 4-year, $110M extension, he’s under contract for the foreseeable future with QB Caleb Williams and he’ll go into the 2024 season with new fellow WRs Keenan Allen and Rome Odunze.”

The Bears organization really sees the value that DJ Moore brings to the table. Regarding Moore, Chicago coach Matt Eberflus says,

“Our best player has got to be our hardest workers and they’ve got to be our best finishers and they’ve got to be available to practice out there, and DJ certainly is that. He’s as tough as they come and he is a great teammate and he is our hardest worker and one of our most talented guys.”

And talented he indeed is on any given Sunday. During the 2023 season DJ accounted for 39.9% of Chicago’s receiving yards, the HIGHEST percentage for any player for a team. Furthermore, looking at that same season, Moore’s 1,364 receiving yards were the fourth most by a Bears player in franchise history, trailing only Brandon Marshall (2012), Alshon Jeffery (2013) and Marcus Robinson (1999).

So then, DJ has proven his worth. And Chicago has rewarded him for his efforts. Therefore, guess the saying is true, hard work truly does pay off.
