2024 MLB Draft First Round Picks: Recapping All the Top Selections

However… first things first. This year the number one pick by the Guardians proved to be Travis Bazzana. A 21-year-old native of Hornsby, Australia, Bazzana is a five-tool player and arguably the most talented prospect in this year’s Draft. The left handed hitter was a FORCE to be reckoned with this season for the Beavers. Hitting .407/.568/.911 with 28 home runs and also more than twice as many walks as strikeouts (76-37).
Furthermore, Bazzana’s 28 home runs set a school record. And when you really glance at the overall numbers you notice that they are a little better than the Baltimore Orioles’ Adley Rutschman had for the Beavers when he went No. 1 overall in 2019. Therefore, it is safe to say that the Guardians got themselves a really good one.
