We love a nice sports crossover. Mahomes is no stranger about loving to take in other athletic tournaments. So then, it was not too surprising to see the Kansas City Chiefs Patrick Mahomes attending Wimbledon.
Especially, since there are a lot of great tennis athletes to watch and follow. Talented individuals such as: Tommy Paul, Dustin Brown, Coco Gauff, Jasmine Paolini, and Lulu Sun.
Nevertheless, in case you are wondering what matchup Pat went to see. He took in one of the men’s matches. Specifically, Francis Tiafoe versus Carlos Alcaraz.
Mahomes must of really enjoyed the battle between these two awesome tennis players. Since the multiple Super Bowl champion quarterback went on social media platform X; to mention it. He simply states, “Great match!!! Much respect to Francis Tiafoe [and] Carlos Alcaraz.” Nice.
But what happened between Tiafoe and Alcaraz? Why was Patrick Mahomes heralding about it to one and all online? Who won? Well, it was INTENSE to say the very least.
Honestly, one of the most exciting and stressful matches so far. The American (Francis Tiafoe), took the first set against Alcaraz 5-7. But Carlos dug DEEP and came back swinging with a vengeance. The defending champion proceeds to level out the match, winning the second set 6-2. Yet, the all out war only continued from there.
The exhausted crowd witnessed the pair go to a fifth set! The audience definitely got their money’s worth. However, in the end Carlos Alcaraz defeats Francis Tiafoe in the five set thriller. Going 5-7, 6-2, 4-6, 7-6(2), 6-2. What a day. What a match.

No doubt Mahomes enjoyed this hard fought tennis game. Probably felt extremely close to what he is used to experiencing on Sundays, Mondays and Thursdays. In his profession he is used to having to give everything you got in order to come away with a win. Which is why he has successfully won several championships and MVP honors.
And pretty soon Mahomes will go from spectator back to on field contender. NFL preseason is now only 4 weeks away. Also, the 18-week, 272-game regular-season schedule for 2024, kicks off on Thursday night, September 5, in Kansas City. The drought is almost over people, football is coming!
