Aaron Rodgers And Jets Will Kick Off Monday Night Football

Aaron Rodgers And Jets Will Kick Off Monday Night Football

After several years with the Green Bay Packers, Aaron Rodgers was traded to the New York Jets last season. He debuted with the team on 9/11/23 on a Monday night. Now in what may seem to be a cruel twist of fate, Aaron Rodgers and the Jets will kick off Monday Night Football again this season. You may recall that the Jets played the Buffalo Bills that Monday night. And on the fourth snap of the game, Rodgers ruptured his Achilles tendon. Naturally both Rodgers and the Jets hope for a much better outcome this time around.

They will be visiting the San Francisco 49ers who have a more experienced Brock Purdy at quarterback. He had his ups and downs throughout the season but led his team to the Super Bowl. In a crushing overtime defeat by the Kansas City Chiefs, the 49ers will want to wipe that bad taste out of their mouths. And the good news is that their offensive side of the ball is stacked. It features McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, George Kittle, and newly drafted WR Ricky Pearsall. However, the Jets have a really good defense, which was one of the bright spots for the team last season.

As for Rodgers, the 40 year-old has 19 years of NFL experience under his belt. And coming off a serious injury of course there will be questions about his health and playing ability. This past February when host Joe Rogan  asked about his injury he said, “It feels good I can do everything except sprint at a top speed.” According to newyorkjets.com Rodgers not only expects to play in 2024 but he told Eddie Bravo of Look Into It podcast, “I’m hopeful I can play two or three or four more years, but you need to have some good fortune in there to.”

This Monday Night matchup should be a thriller as multiple storylines play out. Also as a native Californian, this will be a homecoming for Rodgers. But it will also be a return for Jets head coach Robert Saleh. He was defensive coordinator for the 49ers under Kyle Shanahan for four years. However when the lights come on for the primetime event none of that will matter. Only one team can come away with the victory and I can’t wait to see who it will be.
