Panthers’ Adam Thielen Shared Insights On QB Bryce Young
In March 2023, Carolina gave up quite a bit to acquire the No. 1 pick from Chicago. With that pick they selected Bryce Young and his rookie season was a tough one. However, the Panthers’ wide receiver, Adam Thielen, shared his insights on QB Bryce Young. Although the season ended with 2 wins, the 33 year old veteran had good things to say about Young’s rookie season. Having been in the league for 10 years, he’s seen a lot things and been around a bunch of teammates.
In an interview with Good Morning Football Thielen pointed out that forces were arrayed against Young.
He said, “I think everything was stacked against him last year, unfortunately. And I’m not gonna get into detail as to why that was. But I’m just really excited for him to have a fresh start, an ability to have a good coaching staff. That’s gonna put a good plan together to help him be successful. And also to put people around him to help him be successful.”
One of the issues the Panthers had last season was their offensive line. Consequently, new head coach Dave Canales put an emphasis on fixing it. In free agency the team extended guards Robert Hunt and Damien Lewis with contracts worth $150 million.
Earlier this week Canales spoke about Robert Hunt. “This is a guy who’s got the attitude. He’s got the size, the athleticism. It’s the whole package to be able to build our run game, to build the mentality of our offense. Starting with him up front was a huge get for us.”
Shoring up the run game will certainly be a help to Young and take some of the pressure off of him.

Thielen also complimented Young on his ability to keep his head on straight in tough situations. He also commented on Young’s maturity and how it grew over the season.
“His maturity level over the season was really cool to see. And his ability to handle adversity. I don’t know how much adversity Bryce has had over his football career, and to handle the amount of adversity he did, to show up every week, week in, week out, put his head down and work, try to lead to the best of his ability was really impressive, and what makes me excited about Year 2 with him.”
More pieces have been added around him and he has the support of the coaches and his teammates. Therefore, it looks like Young could be poised to have a breakout season in 2024.
