Cleveland Browns Look To Acquire Jerry Jeudy From Broncos
The NFL’s new league year is set to start on March 13, 2024. Therefore, no trades can be official until that date. However, according to league sources, the Cleveland Browns look to acquire Jerry Jeudy from the Denver Broncos. The wide receiver was taken with the 15th overall pick of the 2020 draft by the Broncos.
Last season Jeudy teamed up with Russell Wilson for 54 passes, 758 yards, and two touchdowns. By adding him to their roster, the Browns hope Jeudy will become a consistent 1,000 yard pass catcher. He will help round out the receiving corps of Amari Cooper and Elijah Moore. In the 2022 and 2023 seasons, Cooper amassed 1,160 and 1,250 yards respectively. Whereas, Elijah Moore racked up 640 yards in 2023, his first season with the Browns and third season in the league.
During his four years with the Broncos, Jeudy didn’t produce a 1,000 receiving yards season. He came close in 2022, when he started 14 games and reached 972 receiving yards. NFL analyst and former wide receiver Steve Smith Sr. had some criticism for Jeudy calling him a J.A.G. (just a guy). He further said Jeudy is an average wide receiver, a tier three.
Nevertheless, the Browns were not swayed by Smith’s critique. They are confident Jeudy can fulfill the role they envision for him. With his size and overall ability, the Browns believe Jeudy will round out the trio of wide receivers. That’s why they were willing to give up fifth and sixth round picks for him. That is a far cry from the 2nd round pick the Broncos wanted to get last season.

In addition, to the trade for Jeudy the Browns are still in contact with fan favorite Joe Flacco. Despite winning Comeback Player of the Year, the free agent market hasn’t produced a suitor for Flacco yet. If he is unable to land a starting quarterback position with another team, he will likely be the backup for Deshaun Watson. But of course, they will have to negotiate a contract as other teams could be interested in having him as their backup QB.
Watson or Flacco will be a boon for the wide receivers. Jeudy will have an experienced signal-caller to work with and help him reach that 1,000 yard season. If he can reach that goal then maybe Steve Smith will at least elevate him to a tier two receiver.
