Team Pacers Wins 2024 Kia Skills
Indiana represent! Maybe some extra magic occurred because All Stars Weekend went down in Pacers country; but the Skills Challenge was still a battle.
Team All-Stars and the Pacers duked it out. Back and forth.
Nevertheless, for the third time in consecutive years, the home team wins. The win came down yet again to a half-court-shot, tie-breaker round. The Indiana Pacers: Tyrese Haliburton, Bennedict Mathurin and Myles Turner won the first two rounds, each worth 100 challenge points. While Team All-Stars: Scottie Barnes, Tyrese Maxey and Trae Young; then dominated the shooting round, which was worth 200 challenge points. Tied.
However, that is not how the night would end. NBA.com writer John Schuhmann sums up the epic matchup. Team All-Stars did extremely well, but The Pacers just kept edging them out. Schuhmann reports,
The All-Stars began the tie-breaker round, but needed 58.8 seconds to make a half-court shot. The Pacers took their time and still beat that time by more than 20 seconds, with Haliburton ending the competition with a swish.
The passing round came down to a tie-breaker between Team All-Stars and the Pacers, who both finished their initial pass-through 74 points. The All-Stars began the tie-breaker with a new record of 90, only for the Pacers to top it with 92, ignoring the two-point goal and just alternating between the four and the six.
Great strategy by Indiana, it pays off. Therefore, congratulations to The Pacers. They put on quite the show at home.

Starry 3 Point Contest
Going around playing a little 3 point “horse” is always fun. Seeing guys under clock pressure, and watching them hit threes just feels sports therapeutic. Anyway, this year’s lineup includes: defending champ Damian Lillard; Haliburton, Young, Malik Beasley, New York Knick’s Jalen Brunson, Utah’s Lauri Markannen, Donovan Mitchell and Minnesota’s Karl-Anthony Towns.
Well, when it came down to it, Damien Lillard just DOMINATED. Defended his title, put his crown back on his head. And walked out the building as the 3 Point champ.
3 Point Challenge- Sabrina Ionescu Versus Steph Curry
This was seriously entertaining. Sabrina put up a great number (26) and held her own in this competition. She literally was not missing at first, but faltered just a tad towards the end of her round; leaving the door slightly open still for Curry.
Steph takes advantage, narrowly bumping Ionescu down from glory. Steph Curry does Steph Curry things, setting the net on fire and finishing with 29 points to win the contest. Great job by both of these players and what a great event for charity. Hope to see more WNBA players in this challenge in the future… imagine Caitlin Clark versus ANYONE in a few years. Sign us up.
2024 All Stars Weekend Saturday Night
AT&T Slam Dunk Contest
It was just too easy. No one had stuff like Mac Clung for the second year in a row; and that’s with guys getting plenty of air and dunking over 7 feet plus Shaq. However, the formidable Mac hit a dunk never done before (the judges were some haters); but in the end the right guy got this year’s Dunk title.
FOX Sports, gives a sweet overview. Regarding all the dunk action, FOX mentions,
After retrieving the ball over a person’s head in the air, McClung passed the ball to himself and executed a reverse slam, scoring 48.0. He followed with a 49.8 on his second dunk. McClung and Brown advanced to the final round.
Brown posted 48.6 on his first dunk; while McClung got 48.8 for dunking over a person already on the back of somebody else. Brown then posted 49.2 for dunking with his left hand over a person.
As one can see, great dunking was had by one and all. However, only one man can win. Mac McClung walks away with the trophy; bringing an impressive ending to an already exciting night.
