Pro Football Hall of Fame Welcomes Seven New Inductees
In January the 50-person Selection Committee of the Hall met virtually in January. The results of their voting was announced last night at the National Football League Honors. The Pro Football Hall of Fame welcomes Seven new inductees. Who will join the esteemed company already in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
The two senior inductees were Randy Gradishar and Steve McMichael. Steve McMichael received the happy news via phone call from former Chicago Bears teammate and Hall of Fame member Richard Dent. Whereas as the other inductees received in-person visits from other Hall of Famers.
Below is the list of the seven inductees and a few fun facts:
Dwight Feeney – Defensive End/Outside Linebacker played for 16 seasons. Most recognized as a member of the Indianapolis Colts he was named AP first-team All-Pro in 2004, 2005 and 2009.
Randy Gradishar – Linebacker played 10 seasons. He was 1978 AP NFL Defensive MVP/Player of the Year. His whole career was with the Denver Broncos where he is a member of the Denver Broncos Ring of Fame.
Devin Hester – Punt Returner/Kick Returner/Wide Receiver played for 11 seasons. He was fast, elusive, and was known for making razzle-dazzle plays. Once he returned a missed field goal for a 108-yard touchdown.
Andre Johnson – Wide Receiver played for 14 seasons. He was a large part of the fledgling Houston Texans. He is their franchise leader in most receiving statistics.
Steve McMichael – Defensive tackle/nose tackle played 15 seasons. He started a franchise-record 191 consecutive games for the Bears in 13 seasons. And he finished his career with the most tackles (814) and the most sacks (92.5) in Chicago Bears history.

Julius Peppers – Defensive End played for 17 seasons. Peppers was a dominant player who quarterbacks feared. He finished his career with 159.5 sacks. Member of the NFL’s All-Decade Team of both the 2000s and 2010s.
Patrick Willis – Linebacker played for 8 seasons. He spent his whole career with the San Francisco 49ers. In a short time he made a big impact on the game. Including being named first-team All-Pro five times in his eight years.
So maybe your favorite player isn’t on this list. However, there is always next year. Nevertheless, geing inducted to the Hall of Fame is a tremendous honor for the former players. The enshrinement ceremony will take place on Saturday, August 3, 2024.
