It’s been a long drought but finally a little baseball gaming news is upon us. The MLB the Show 2024 cover athlete reveal is finally just days away. If you want some hardcore evidence of this truly being the case just head to theshow.com.
Once there you will see a countdown counter. It’s ticking down till time for the big reveal. Second by second. Bringing us all closer to the announcement we’ve been waiting to hear.
The official MLB The Show social media team confirms that the cover reveal is on the way. They briefly state,
“Our ‘24 cover athlete is coming. It’ll be a wild ride. Tune in on Twitch or YT. 10:00 AM PT on 1/30.”
Nice. Well, if you don’t have a calendar directly in front of you. January 30 is on this coming Tuesday. Just FYI.
Nevertheless, the promo video released by The Show X account for this reveal is cool. It features a super old school, retro radio blaring the words of an announcer. A hand appears in the shot and starts flipping from channel to channel. All you hear is static for a moment; then finally all the channel flipping stops and lands on a broadcast coming in clear. Then the rough, raspy, ten packs a day announcer voice says,
“Get your peanuts. Get your popcorn. And get your ice cold drink. Get a hot dog. Most importantly, get your MLB The Show 2024 cover athlete reveal.”

Well… we’re hyped. The last several covers have all been fire and featuring some awesome players. Can you remember them?
We’ll refresh your memory some:
- 2017- “The Kid” and 13-time All Star and HOFer, the legendary Ken Griffey Jr.
- 2018- ALL RISE! You already know… Aaron Judge
- 2019- Two time National League MVP, Bryce Harper
- 2020- Hint: “El Mago”… yep, Javier Baez
- 2021- The bat flipping “El Nino”… Mr. Fernando Tatis Jr.
- 2022- He got 99 problems, but $700 million isn’t one, Shohei Ohtani
- He is “HIM” (nice nickname); and his cover was sick and one of our all time favorites, Miami superstar, Jazz Chisholm Jr.
