2024 Winter Classic: Seattle Releases the Kraken on the Vegas Golden Knights!
What a performance by the Seattle Kraken in the 2024 Winter Classic! One of the NHL’s premier events, with matchups showcasing the league’s most popular teams and players. This year, Seattle dominated the world champions, Las Vegas Golden Knights; winning the bout 3-0.
Moreover, the Kraken also made NHL history during their classic game. Seattle explains,
“The Seattle Kraken took center stage in one of the NHL’s biggest games of the season. [Giving] the fans something to remember as they completed the first shutout in Winter Classic history; and extended their point streak to nine games.”
Wow. The very first NHL Winter Classic took place in 2008. Therefore, for 16 years, no team was able to shut their opponent out. What an achievement; and the Kraken now sit as kings on top in this regard. We tip our hockey helmets and sticks to them.

Furthermore, the logo for this year is fantastic. We love all the little extra tidbits and features it possesses that really highlight and pay homage to Seattle and Kraken. Did you notice them?
If not, here’s a quick breakdown of various aspects of the logo.
- Color scheme of triple-blue and red is based off of the host Seattle Kraken, gold for the opponent, Vegas Golden Knights.
- Logo placed within a compass, pointing to Seattle and the U.S. Pacific Northwest.
- Center of the compass dial similar to the red eye from the Kraken logo
- Rope surrounding the logo, water along the bottom are nods to Seattle’s “Rich Cultural History” and waterfront.

One other thing we love seeing and taking note of, are the team uniforms. The designs for both franchises this year were awesome. Especially, in terms of representing the each teams’ heritage and culture well.
For instance, the Vegas Knights provide this description for their Unis. They reveal,
“The Golden Knights’ NHL Winter Classic uniform imagines a Vegas hockey team in the look of the city’s early days.
The Golden Knights’ bright gold has been replaced with Heritage Gold and is paired with Vintage White.
The filigree petal accent shapes and a looping decorative chain stitch have been added to the “V” and the players names and numbers. A new ‘Vegas’ wordmark complements the braiding and appears on the pants.
Barber pole socks complete the old school look.”
Winter Classic 2023 Uniforms
Very, very cool. However, what about the Seattle Kraken? What are some details about their Winter Classic uniforms? Seattle states,
The Kraken’s NHL Winter Classic uniform is inspired by the 1917 Seattle team that holds the distinction of being the first U.S. team to win the Stanley Cup.
In the crest, the tentacle that lives within the negative space of the original ‘S’ has been replaced with KRAKEN.
The players names and numbers are new and resemble vintage-era numbers in layered felt for a historic feel.
Vintage barber pole stripes adorn the entire sleeve and most of the body.”
Nice Uni. Also, both teams’ 2024 NHL Winter Classic event patch was included on the right shoulder of the uniform design. Nevertheless, congrats again to Seattle and can’t wait to do it all again next year.
