MLB 2023 Winter Free Agent Spending By Team So Far- Who Is Yet to Spend a Dime?

Should fans worry if their team isn’t spending just yet? There are 7 teams still not paying up. However, it is early; spring training is a couple of months away. So then, there is time for some moves to be made.

Regarding this and MLB winter spending, ESPN’s Jeff Passan reports,

“By Kiley McDaniel’s contract projections, there are still around $2 billion worth of deals to come. Just because a team hasn’t spent yet doesn’t mean its winter is busted. (The Yankees, for example, traded for Juan Soto.)

But there are some very interesting teams that haven’t partaken in free agency. And if you take the full value of Shohei Ohtani’s deal with the Dodgers ($700 million) rather than its present-day value (~$460 million), he has accounted for 43.6% of all free agent spending by himself.”
