9th-Most Receptions in QB-Pass Catcher’s First 50 Games in NFL History!
Detroit domination continues. This is a new era, a new time for Lions fans. Last season, getting to the playoffs sent confetti and joyful tears everywhere. Yet, flash forward to this season and already more history is being made. Thanks to Jared Goff and Amon-Ra St. Brown, this pairing is being recognized with having the 9th-most receptions in QB-Pass Catcher’s first 50 games in NFL history!
As soon as their game against the Seattle Seahawks concluded (Lions won 42-29); the official public relations platform for Detroit heralded the exciting news to the “pride.” The online account revealed,
“Lions Quarterback Jared Goff and Wide Receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown completed their 50th game together. Among any QB + pass-catcher’s first 60 games together in @NFL history, they have the 9th-most receptions.”
Nice. And these two find themselves in some pretty impressive company. Here’s just a few quarterback /pass catcher groupings that can be found in the Top Ten:
- Tom Brady and Wes Welker
- Eli Manning and Odell Beckham Jr.
- Drew Brees and Michael Thomas
- Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce
Jared Goff Monday Night NFL History Maker
As we said, good company. Furthermore, Goff’s recent performances are helping the front office breathe a sigh of relief. Jared got majorly paid recently. Due to this, sometimes the fear is that an athlete will get a big payday and the investment may not pan out. However, the Lions went ahead and opened the wallet. For his efforts, the Detroit Lions rewarded Jared Goff with a four-year contract extension worth over $200 million, with a massive $170 million guaranteed.
And so far that contract is looking good and things are going well. Going into week 5, the Lions are 3-1. Plus, during the matchup versus Geno Smith and company; Goff made even more history; then just connecting with Amon-Ra St. Brown.
Goff completed 100 percent of his passes against the Seahawks. His 18 passes without an incompletion were the most in NFL history, according to Opta Stats. He also became the only quarterback in NFL history to finish a game without an incompletion while throwing at least 10 passes, per the NFL’s Tony Holzman-Escareno.
Lastly, Goff also became the first player in NFL history to throw for 200-plus passing yards without throwing an incompletion, per the ESPN broadcast. Jared is showing why he’s worth every penny. And he is doing everything he can to get the Lions back to the playoffs.
