December 25th is GIVING. The NBA treated their fans to not one, not two, but FIVE Christmas Day games. The first two came down to the wire, and this matchup proved to be no different. However, the 76ers survive the Boston Celtics and pull off the upset at TD Garden.

In the first quarter both teams stayed within range of each other. At one point it looked like Philadelphia would pull away a bit. But Boston got themselves right back in it. The quarter ends with the 76ers being up 30-25.

Moving into the second, the 76ers finally succeeded at what they had attempted to do in the first, get a large lead. With about five minutes to go and Paul George dunk, Philadelphia finds themselves up by 16 points. But the Celtics would fight right back. By halftime the 76ers lead would shrink by half.

Teams walk to the back with the scoreboard reading 66-58. Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey each have 18 points through the first half. Philadelphia is shooting 53.1% from the field collectively and is outscoring Boston 30-14 in the paint.

In the third quarter, the Celtics would continue to bring the heat. With Boston on Philadelphia’s heels, Paul George would miss a three pointer and Jaylen Brown would make a three. Tie GAME.

The back and forth WAR only continues as time ticks down. With 30 seconds left in the third it’s 80-80. But both teams would score one more time before the buzzer. The quarter concludes with both teams having 82 points a piece.

So this game was shaping up to be like all the other Christmas games played thus far; another fourth quarter nail-biter.
