49ers Sent Green Bay Packing With Last Minute Win
San Francisco got off to a sluggish start punting on their opening drive. But the 49ers eventually sent Green Bay Packing with a thrilling last minute win. Green Bay was riding high off their big win over Dallas last week. And appeared to bring that momentum into this week.
Aaron Jones had a good day garnering 108 rushing yards. Green Bay opened with a run heavy drive that ended with a 29 yard field goal. Charvarius Ward had excellent pass coverage on Romeo Doubs in the end zone breaking up a very nice pass from Jordan Love.
The 49ers stuffed back to back run plays. Green Bay couldn’t convert on 3rd & 1 or 4th & 1 turning the ball over on downs. San Francisco capitalized on the turnover scoring an 86 yard touchdown. However, they later missed a field goal while Green Bay tacked on another one.
The 49ers opened the second half but had to punt not being able to pick up a first down. Samuel Deebo was injured in the first half so that had an effect on the offense. Green Bay continued to rely on their running game with a few passes mixed in. A huge 41 yard defensive pass interference helped the Packers score their first touchdown.
Brock Purdy threw a 32 yard pass to George Kittle. That was followed by a 39 yard touchdown run by Christian McCaffrey. Green Bay scored another touchdown and then forced the 49ers to punt. But disaster struck when Jordan Love was intercepted by Dre Greenlaw which the 49ers converted into a field goal.
But the final nail in the coffin came when Green Bay missed a field goal and allowed the 49ers to score a touchdown taking the 21-24 lead. The Packers had one more possession but with :52 seconds on the clock Love threw an ill-advised pass which was easily intercepted by Greenlaw again. Thus handing the victory to the 49ers.

When Green Bay started the season, Jordan Love had a habit of making cross-the-body throws which were susceptible to being intercepted. He cleaned those up and finished the second half of the season on a roll. However, those risky throws showed up again tonight and really had a negative impact. Hopefully Love can get those passes out of his system for good next season.
The 49ers are now headed to the NFC Championship game. Their defense had a tough time handling the Green Bay offense but in the end they tightened things up and ground out the win. They’ll need to take that toughness into the next game. And I’m guessing that they will.
