49ers’ Ricky Pearsall Ready To Make His Debut On Sunday
After being a victim of a shooting, everyone thought it would take quite some time for him to recover. He was shot through the chest when someone attempted to rob him. And now 49ers’ WR Ricky Pearsall is ready to make his NFL debut on Sunday. His amazing recovery is, in part, due to the bullet missing vital organs and the quick response of first responders. Pearsall only had to spend one day in the hospital before being released. The attempted robbery took place on Aug. 31. So come this Sunday Oct 20. only 50 days will have passed since the incident. What a remarkable recovery for the first round draft pick.
His teammates and coaches are thrilled to have Pearsall out on the field. He has been wowing them at practice since his 21-day practice was opened on Oct. 14. In less than a week he has proven himself ready to go. The team website shared some quotes from head coach, Kyle Shanahan:
“The guys are pumped (to have Ricky back),” Shanahan said. “He’s been around the guys for a while now, so it’s not like he hasn’t been around. He’s been practicing all week. It’s been great to see him out there. I think the guys are really happy for him that he can get back and be part of it. He’s had a hell of a week, and we’re just pumped to get him out there with us.”
“Whatever he’s needed at,” Shanahan said when asked what he can do at this stage. “He’s got roles on special teams, he’s got his role at receiver, and we’ll see how the game unfolds. He’s healthy and ready to go.”
49ers’ Ricky Pearsall Ready To Make His Debut On Sunday
Pearsall’s debut is perfect timing for the 49ers. Because they won’t have Jauan Jennings at wide receiver against the Chiefs. Jennings was officially declared out on the team’s final injury report of the week. So Pearsall should see a good amount of playing time in his debut. But replacing Jennings production won’t be easy as he has 25 catches for 404 yards and three touchdowns on the season.
Also, this game is a rematch of Super Bowl LVIII. I suspect the 49ers would love to get some revenge, although I doubt any of the players would admit it. And they will be playing in front of a home crowd so the atmosphere will be electric. The game starts at 1:25 p.m. PT, so tune in if you can.
