2026 World Baseball Classic Is The Most Watched WBC Telecast Ever
Tuesday’s game just felt special. Two countries battling it out on the diamond in order to be deemed world champions. Plus, the crowds at loanDepot Park were boisterous and roared with energetic enthusiasm. And apparently this very same dynamic was found among millions of baseball fans watching from their homes and devices. The 2026 World Baseball Classic is now the most watched WBC telecast ever according to FOX PR.
This year’s tournament final was broadcasted on FOX and the network on Thursday evening shared the news about the historic ratings and viewership. FOX stated,
“A legendary game calls for a legendary viewership number as 10,784,000 viewers watched the World Baseball Classic final on FOX and FOX Deportes – the most-watched WBC telecast ever.
The 2026 WBC averaged 1,294,000 viewers across FOX, FS1 and FS2, making it the most-watched WBC in its 20-year history across English language networks.”
Furthermore, this year’s WBC drew 1,619,839 fans for 47 games, a 24% increase over the previous high of 1,306,414 in 2023. The initial tournament in 2006 drew 740,451 for 39 games. The most-watched 2006 matchup was Mexico’s second-round win over the U.S. at 2.46 million on ESPN.
However, this year’s most-viewed game through Sunday (before the final); was Team USA’s semifinal victory over the Dominican Republic at 7.37 million on FS1 and Fox Deportes. That topped the previous high of 5.2 million for the 2023 final on FS1, Fox Deportes and Fox Sports streaming services.

The growth and success of the World Baseball Classic simply cannot be ignored. Even Major League Baseball’s commissioner commented on the numbers. And toyed with the suggestion that perhaps the WBC could be moved to a better time in the year. Since currently the WBC is played during spring training with Tournament rules that include pitch count restrictions, and teams can demand tougher limits or deny players permission to participate. Nonetheless, Rob Manfred said,
“There’s no resemblance to where we started in 2006. This one, I feel like it went to a different level. We set an attendance record after the early play. By the time we got into the semis and the final it was all gravy.
Obviously we have commitments to Fox in terms of the All-Star Game in the middle of the season through ’28,” baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred said Wednesday during an interview with The Associated Press. “As the game continues to evolve, we have talked about midseason tournaments in general. And certainly if we decided to get serious about this, about a midseason tournament, this would be an ideal opportunity.”
Well, we will just have to wait and see if a change in this regard will be made. But the numbers are looking good and they are trending up. Baseball fans are all in on the World Baseball Classic.
