2024 Pro Bowl Skills Competition Was Fun For All
The NFL has been revamping the Pro Bowl lately. Now it’s not just one game on a Sunday. They have added the 2024 Pro Bowl Skills competition to the event. And it was fun for all parties involved as the competition kicked off last night. There were six competition events held:
- Precision Passing
- Best Catch
- Closest to the Pin
- High Stakes
- Dodge Ball
- Snap Shots
Baker Mayfield playfully complained about having to go first in the Precision Passing. But he ended up winning the event for the NFC, earing them 3 points. After the event Baker did his signature touchdown dance and was joined by Amon-Ra St. Brown. It was great, watch the short clip here. Fans get to vote on the Best Catch and that result will be determined on Sunday. Closest to the Pin let players show off their golf swings. Or lack thereof, as some of their balls landed in the water or the trees. Dallas Cowboys’ punter Bryan Anger won the event easily. He came within about six feet of the hole.
My favorite event was High Stakes. Players started off holding a football in one hand while catching another one. Steelers’ Miles Killebrew ran away with this event making a crazy catch with six footballs. He was congratulated by coach Ray Lewis for his efforts and earned 3 points for the AFC. Everyone loves seeing the players participate in Dodge Ball and CeeDee Lamb was all in. He was overhead strategizing with his teammates. Advising the big defensive guys to let the faster offensive guys go get the balls. AFC and NFC split the event, each winning a game and earning three points. Finally the night concluded with Snap Shots with both centers and long snappers participating.

Eagles’ Jason Kelce’s strategy was obviously to keep aiming for the small hole worth five points. However, Vikings’ Andrew DePaolo aimed his snaps toward the larger hole worth one point. It paid off as he won the event and another three points for the NFC. So the final score for the night is NFC 12 and AFC 6.
The AFC has some work to do but they can still earn enough points to win overall. On Sunday, things will wrap up with five more events and then the flag football game. It will begin at 3pm ET and can be watched on ESPN, ABC, and NFL+.
The winners will each earn $80,000 and the losers $40,000 each. Therefore, each player has plenty of motivation to do their best to win out. Will it be the AFC or the NFC? Tune in on Sunday to find out!
