2023 Pro Football Hall of Fame Game Is In the Books
Well it’s a wrap folks. The 2023 Pro Football Hall of Fame Game is in the books, the preseason is officially underway. That means we are only about 5 weeks away from the regular season opener between the Chiefs and Lions. But before we start talking regular season games I thought it would be cool to mention a couple of things about the Hall of Fame game.
The in-game interviews conducted by Melissa Stark were interesting and fun. I have to say I was surprised that Darrelle Revis had put on some weight. He was always trim and lanky during his playing days. So it was a little jarring to see him sporting a pot belly. But he came across as very humble and soft-spoken during his interview and was happy that his mother was there to celebrate the honor with him.
Joe Klecko’s interview was funny and entertaining. He paid homage to his former defensive buddies. The group of them formerly known as the New York Sack Exchange consisted of Joe Klecko, Mark Gastineau, Marty Lyons, and Abdul Salaam. They enjoyed wrecking havoc on quarterbacks and putting on a show doing it. I’m glad quarterbacks are better protected nowadays but it was great watching those guys work. The game has lost some of its toughness and grittiness and Klecko reminded us of the old days last night.
Also, Joe Thomas had his son with him during the interview. The little guy was reluctant to say much but we’ll allow that since the cuteness factor was off the charts. And Ronde Barber was a class act as usual. His mother was also in attendance and the lady has not aged a bit.

Overall the game itself was what you would expect from a preseason game. Initially it seemed like the Browns had no interest in winning the game. However, they managed to rally and come away with a 16-21 victory. That was due in large part to their rookie quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson or DTR for short. That kid made some impressive plays and looks to be quite talented. Running back Demetric Felton Jr. also made plays and helped out the rookie quarterback.
Having taking a $30 million pay cut, it appears Aaron Rodgers is serious about playing for the Jets. Although he didn’t suit up for the game, he still called some plays for Zach Wilson. Apparently the young QB is happy to have the veteran on the team and had nothing but praise for him. I’m looking forward to seeing how things go for the Jets.
We can’t put too much stock in preseason games of course, so we’ll have to see how things pan out in the future. But NFL football is back now and not a moment too soon.
