However, the occasion moves to even more historical significance during game 2 of the day (Kansas City Chiefs versus Miami Dolphins); a game that still stands as the longest in NFL history. Moreover, since the 70’s football fans continue to enjoy watching games on the 25th of December; regardless of matchups and modern day alterations. In fact, the league is helping kids to get in on all the fun as well; case in point the 2023 Nickelodeon Nickmas NFL Game.
Kids television network, Nickelodeon, and the NFL are developing quite a positive and strong relationship. The last time the pair teamed up to broadcast a NFL game for children viewers; the numbers were mind-boggling. CBS Sports and Nickelodeon averaged 41.496 million viewers across both networks for a wildcard bout between the San Francisco 49ers and Cowboys. A 35 percent increase in viewership over the previous year.
These numbers seem to strongly indicate a legitimate interest from younger generations. Moreover, this gives the NFL a greater opportunity to influence and develop lifelong football fans. Which of course, is very good for the future of their business and industry.

So what can kids look forward to seeing during the broadcast on Monday? Well, went straight to the CBS network to find out all the intel! CBS reveals and confirms,
“One of the [Ninja] Turtles, Raphael (Brady Noon), will join Nate Burleson and Noah Eagle in the augmented reality broadcast booth, while Donatello (Micah Abbey) will appear throughout the contest alongside Dylan Schefter to help provide additional commentary and penalty explanations from Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.
The NFL game will also feature upgraded virtual cannons that fire slime during the broadcast, as well as virtual snowballs, pizzas and other vibrant/fun graphics that will decorate the contest. [Plus there’s] an exclusive halftime sneak peek of Nick’s new series “Rock Paper Scissors.”
Nick’s football game in collaboration with the NFL will air exclusively on Nickelodeon, with traditional broadcast being shown on CBS and Paramount+. It all starts at 1pm eastern everyone, and kiddies, Vegas as well as Kansas City fans; enjoy watching Chiefs versus the Raiders, Nickelodeon green slime style.
